Auto Insurance Guide

I want an American car as my first car.
Don’t ask why, it’s what I want and the ONLY thing I will drive.

I’m having problems finding a good first car though. I want a RWD/AWD (NO FWDs) and it can’t be a mustang/camaro/challenger (my insurance won’t insure anyone under the age of 21 for cars like that, unfortunately)

Also, it can’t be more than 15 years old, unfortunately. My dad won’t buy me some thing more because he’s afraid it will break down often and need too many repairs.

I have an uncle and grandpa who have worked/are working in the American Auto Repair business, and I would LOVE to put mods and fix up the engine/suspension, with help or learn to do it myself.

Any options are greatly appreciated, currently I’m looking at a ‘96 Impala, but I heard they chug gas, and are extremely long.
